New Racing Research Tool
Graphical Research Tool Launched
TLDR:
A new way to do horse racing research is now available via Hedger Pro. This new system is pretty much entirely graphical, once you get your head around how it works (which should take you 5 to 10 minutes or so) the speed in which you can find angles and opportunities is unparalleled.
Filter values are shown on the left, charts (line, bar and tables) in the main research area, the main P&L and Stats at the top:
Shortlists or runners for your systems are easily accessible and can be exported to third party automation bots.
The Long Long Long Story:
Please DONT read this unless your a total geek ;)
Hedger Pro is created and maintained by Level Software - this is actual fact just me - Nigel. I’ve created many apps in the past including Bet Mover (now owned by TDP), Cloud Bet Bot and dozens of other web and desktop apps all starting sometime before 2000 (ouch).
I’ve always been drawn to the data side of things and working out the best way to see and understand it. I’ve worked with many service providers (my posh name for tipsters!) to try and help them improve their selection process. This goes from automation to supply of information and analysis of the historical selections.
The way this started out was with the good old, tried and trusted Excel - probably the best application ever invented (IMO). Now, if you’re not familiar with Excel, is just a spreadsheet for looking at data, and if you’re not familiar with Pivot Tables (Yes - I’m talking about you Ryan at Exponential Bet! - The only person I know more obsessed with data than I am) - these are brilliant ways to GROUP data allowing you to see things like: total bets, points, ROI, SR and so on for categories like: class, going, distance and anything else you have the data for.
So, now, we have a set of sheets / pivot tables telling us the best: class, distance range, number of runners, going, surface, handicapped, on and on and on. We can remove terrible areas like slow / heavy ground or class 1 races or focus in on great ranges like low draw in certain courses and distances.
This is great, very powerful stuff in fact, but while Excel is amazing at spinning up quick projects, it always has its limitations. So, time to step it up a level!
So, I did two things. Firstly - move away from Excel and replicated the grouped data into a web based system using my database as a source of data and secondly - applied this to all runners.
From that version to the one that exists today, a lot of changed and improved to the point where it’s an absolute joy to use and I think its the best racing research tool there is. I would say that wouldn’t I, but in truth I’m pretty hard on myself and very rarely really pleased with my achievements. This however, I’m very proud of and very pleased to be able to share.

Although I have rarely used Hedger Pro itself, I have had it on my watch list for quite some time as I knew Nigel was working on something special with the enhanced Race Research Tool. I have used his products in the past and know that he is one talented developer and as expected RR doesnt disappoint. So easy to use, as more and more Parameters/Variables are added this is going to turn into a very powerful, must have tool to add to your betting arsenal. Really looking forward to future updates to drill even further into the data. Superb job Nigel. Thanks Floyd73
I’ve been a subscriber to Hedgerpro for 4 years, it offers an extremely comprehensive set of metrics for you to build and save horse racing back and lay systems. The latest issue of Hedgerpro incorporates a best in class race researcher which gives you the ability to back test your systems to determine their profitability, drawdown, number of bets placed, yield etc. I have used many ratings websites and software systems, the fact I have stuck with Hedger for 4 years is a testament to the customer service and continual development that Nigel puts in.
I’d highly recommend Hedgerpro to anyone looking for a race researcher product.
