Ensuring Your Card Filters Are Set Correctly in Hedger Pro
In this video, I walk you through how to set up Card Filters in Hedger Pro to ensure your betting systems function as intended.
It’s crucial to have these filters configured correctly if you’re using them—otherwise, potential qualifying bets might be excluded from your race cards, meaning you could miss valuable betting opportunities.
This short video demonstrates how I check and adjust my Card Filters for my own systems, ensuring they’re set to capture all relevant selections.
What Are Card Filters?
To explain this better, I asked Claude, our helpful AI search bot (available via the HELP button), and here’s what I got:
The Role of Card Filters in Hedger Pro
Card Filters serve two key purposes:
✅ Filtering Race Card Display – They control which horses appear on the race cards based on selected conditions (e.g., odds, favouritism). This helps you focus on the most relevant runners.
✅ Refining System Building – By selecting specific filters and data, you can refine your strategy and focus on the most profitable race characteristics.
Important Considerations
📌 Card Filters Do Not Affect Research Results – The settings here only impact what you see on the race cards. They don’t alter the profitability calculations in the Systems Research Tool.
📌 Two Different Odds Ranges:
Card Filters Odds Range – Determines which horses appear on the race cards.
Research Prices Range – Used for profitability analysis and system building in the research tool.
⚠️ Odds Interaction Example: If you set 0-10 in Card Filters and 0-20 in the Prices section, the system will only display horses within the 0-10 range on your race card—even though your research considers up to 20.
📌 Tracked Horses Feature – This is purely for shortlisting horses for convenience; it does not affect system searches.
Key Takeaway
The goal of Card Filters is to help you see potential qualifiers without cluttering your view with horses that have no realistic chance of qualifying.
However, be careful not to set your odds range too narrow. If you exclude horses too early, they might later shorten in price and become qualifiers—meaning you could miss important betting opportunities.
